Camilleri Trio in Hörken's church

Thursday night was the last of "Sommarkyrkan i Hörken" for this season. Performing were three young girls with a lot of music in their blood. They have gathered a genuine knowledge how to play their instruments too and perform chamber music together with pleasure.

The special with this trio is, that these girls live in quite different countries and yet they meet at least twice a year for playing together in different places in the world.

How come, you may ask, that three girls from different countries come together to form a trio?

Well.... Anja Inge from Stockholm is a cellist and was engaged by Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. There she met Alison Hughes from Sussex in England, who worked in the orchestra as a clarinet player and they found each other. One day the orchestra engaged a solo pianist. It was Joanne Camilleri from Malta and suddenly they became three. The friens decided to come together and play and so they have done since 2008. They call themselves Camilleri Trio. They perform several conserts each time and last week they were in England and played in the town of Cheltenham and in Hammersmith in London where they have friends. They pay a visit with those friends every year to play in their home.

Last Thursday we could listen to them in Hörken's church and on Saturday they will be in Gagnef. Gagnef is in fact well known for Anja, as her family has owned a summer house there for a time. Then they leave to their homes, but they have already decided too meet again at Easter time in Malta.

Camilleri Trio plays classical music and we could listen to parts of several pieces from different composers in quite various tempo and character. From one of the pieces, "A Time For Singing" , we could listen to the second of four sentenses, "Song" and the special with this piece is, that it was written 2011 just for Camilleri Trio by Alison's brother Ed Hughes, who is active composer in Sussex and teacher in composing and film music at the university.
